Lynne Hughes, Founder & CEO

Lynne lost both of her parents by the time she was 12. She knows first-hand how isolating grief can feel for a child. That experience became her life’s mission: helping grieving kids know they’re not alone.

In 1998, Lynne founded Comfort Zone Camp to create a safe place where kids and teens who’ve lost a parent or sibling can connect, have fun, and heal together. For over 27 years, she’s been a grief expert, thought leader, speaker, and author, teaching families ways to build strength and find healthy ways to cope after loss.

Lynne was awarded the 2025 L’Oreal Paris Women of Worth Award and has appeared on the NY Times, Good Morning America, TIME, and Forbes. Her book, You Are Not Alone: Teens Talk About Life After the Loss of a Loved One, was published by Scholastic Press and shares real stories from teens who have experienced loss.
