In-person Training – North Carolina

During this training you will meet Comfort Zone staff and learn what to expect at camp and how our program impacts grieving children. You will receive education about childhood bereavement as well as tips on how to be successful in whichever volunteer role you are selected to fill at in-person or virtual camps.

Hardwick Township, NJ at Camp Mason in Partnership with the Brave of Heart Fund

Camp Mason Hardwick Township, NJ

This program specifically serves children ages 7-17 (18 if still in high school) who have experienced a death due of a parent, sibling, friend, or primary caregiver. An separate parent/guardian program will take place simultaneously for those whose children are participating. This camp is made possible by a generous partnership with the Brave of Heart Fund. *Priority is given to families of healthcare workers who died from COVID. All loss types are accepted based on availability.

Volunteer Training in Massachusetts

New York Life Office Waltham, MA

This training will be in person and will be held at the New York Life Office in Waltham, MA. Lunch will be provided. During this training you will meet Comfort Zone staff and learn what to expect at camp and how our program impacts grieving children. You will receive education about childhood bereavement as well as tips on how to be successful in whichever volunteer role you are selected to

This program serves children ages 7-17 (18 if still in high school) who have lost a parent, guardian, or sibling. An optional parent/guardian program will take place simultaneously for those whose children are participating.

Virtual Volunteer Training

During this you will meet Comfort Zone staff and learn what to expect at camp and how our program impact grieving children. You will receive education about childhood bereavement, and we’ll give you tips on how to be successful in whichever volunteer role you are selected to fill at in-person or virtual camps.
The training will be held via Zoom and is interactive. You will be required to be present with audio and video capabilities.
You must attend both sessions in order to complete the training.

This free program serves children ages 7-17 (18 if still in high school) who have lost a parent/guardian, sibling, or other significant loss. This camp is made possible by a generous partnership with the Brave of Heart Fund. *Priority is given to families of healthcare workers who died from COVID. All loss types are accepted based on availability.

Virginia Young Adult Retreat: program for ages 18-25

Massanetta Springs Hotel Harrisonburg, VA

The Weekend Overnight Young Adult Retreat program is designed for participants to join peers in a rustic camp retreat setting where discussions and activities are facilitated by a trained grief specialist. Throughout the weekend, participants take part in conversations surrounding their loss and are able to share how grief changes as they reach life's milestones.

Wednesday Night Virtual Support Group: program for ages 10-17; and parents/guardians

Program will meet four consecutive Wednesdays (February 1, February 8, February 15, and February 22) from 7:00pm – 8:15pm EST via Zoom. Wednesday Evening Virtual Program for campers ages 10 - 17, (18 if still in high school) who have experienced the death of a parent, guardian, sibling, other relative, or friend. An optional separate parent/guardian group will take place simultaneously for those whose children are participating.
